Applying Spangle to your item:
Spangle can be applied to cotton, polyester, rayon or any blend of shirt. The item just needs to be able to withstand the heat for the application and have a flat, non textured surface. We recommend testing a small area inside of the shirt or bag to be sure it can withstand the heat prior to applying your transfer.
Supplies needed:
- Your item that you will be applying the transfer to
- A small towel
- A hard, flat board or surface that can withstand heat (if applying via iron)
- An iron or heat press
- A hard nearby table or surface that you can use to cool your shirt and peel the transfer tape from your shirt after application
Heat Press Application (recommended method): Please read through the entire process and watch our application video before proceeding since the application is a quick, time sensitive procedure.

- Set the heat-press to 320 degrees Fahrenheit .
- Set the timer to 13 seconds.
- Place a Nomex heat pad on the bottom platform of your heat-press or use a lower platen Teflon cover; depending on your brand and style of heat press (recommended, not required)
- Pre-press your item to remove moisture from it for 5 seconds
- Adjust the upper platform so the pressure is high, but still able to lock down. (If your machine measures 0-9 pressure, it should be set to 7)
- Lint roll your garment to remove any fibers, lint or anything else that might prevent the spangle from coming in direct contact with your garment.
- Pre-press your garment to flatten out any wrinkles, and then allow it to cool.
- Find the center of your garment by folding it in half lengthwise and making a small crease to mark the location.
- Carefully remove the white protective backing from your clear transfer sheet. Make sure the clear transfer part doesn’t fold over on itself and stick together. Line up the two notches in the top and bottom of the transfer sheet with the crease that you made on the center of your shirt and place the clear transfer sticky side down onto the item you are trying to apply it to.
- Lower heat-press and lock for 13 seconds. Once finished, remove your item from the press and lay out flat on your work table (off of your heat press).
- Dab the design (do not rub) with a cloth, to assist in cooling the transfer, being careful not to pull or stretch the shirt. (We recommend using a shirt or small towel to protect your hand from the heat)
- The transfer paper will need to be peeled warm, (Not HOT or COLD) Pull the clear transfer tape from top to bottom of the shirt straight back onto itself at a 180 degree angle (NOT in an upwards motion) You will want to move your other hand along the shirt, close to where the transfer paper is peeling off of the shirt to hold down the shirt and prevent it from stretching so you don’t pull the spangles off of your shirt before they have a chance to properly adhere. That is another reason why we peel top to bottom since the shirt’s stretch is usually left to right.
- If you peel the transfer too hot, the spangle glue will not have set and if you pull it too cold the spangle transfer paper will be difficult to remove and will be stuck to the shirt possibly pulling spangles off with it. .
- If by chance any of the spangles don’t adhere to the item when you are peeling, stop, lay the transfer back down making sure the spangles line up in the correct place within the design and repress that section only with firm, even pressure for 13 seconds and repeat the dabbing and peeling process.
Iron Application: Please read through the entire process and watch our application video before proceeding since the application is a quick, time sensitive procedure.
Iron Application Video link:
- If you do not have a heat press, you can use your household iron and a hard, non-burnable surface. Wooden cutting boards with an old towel over it works well.
- You will need steady, even pressure. Heat your iron to 325 degrees Fahrenheit (this is usually the cotton setting if your iron doesn’t have the temperatures listed). Turn off the steam function. You will NOT be using steam
- Lint roll your garment to remove any fibers, lint or anything else that might prevent the spangle from coming in direct contact with your garment.
- Pre-iron your garment (NO steam) to flatten out any wrinkles, and then allow it to cool.
- Find the center of your garment by folding it in half lengthwise and making a small crease to mark the location.
- Carefully remove the white protective backing from your clear transfer sheet, making sure the clear transfer part doesn’t fold over on itself and stick together. Line up the two notches in the top and bottom of the transfer sheet with the crease that you made on the center of your shirt and place the clear transfer sticky side down onto your item.
- Press down with the iron (NOT using steam) using firm, steady pressure holding in place for 13 seconds each press, working from one side of the transfer to the other. Make sure that all parts of the transfer have been pressed for 13 seconds.
- Do not glide the iron across the transfer since you risk stretching the fabric or moving the transfer. Instead, press a section, then pick up the iron, move to the next section slightly overlapping the last pressed section, then press the next section for the 13 seconds.
- Move your item to a cool, hard, flat surface such as a table being careful not to burn yourself.
- Dab the design (do not rub) with the small towel, to assist in cooling the transfer, being careful not to stretch or pull the shirt.
Care/Washing instructions:
- -turn shirt inside out and machine wash on gentle cycle(no bleach or harsh chemicals) in cool water.
- -line dry or dry still inside out on the low heat setting in your dryer
- -Do not iron the spangles
Spangle transfers require lots of pressure and steady, even heat. Becky's Boutique cannot warranty or guarantee any shirts made with these transfers or the application since we are not using our shirts, equipment and trained technicians to apply them. If you carefully follow our directions and watch our application videos, you shouldn’t have any issues. When properly pressed and proper garment care, your spangles should not fall off.
